Get Started Guide

Welcome to Resident Care

One app to ask questions about your home, report defects to your builder, and keep track of inspection visits. This guide walks you through it one step at a time.

On the sign-in screen you'll see Resident Care (Powered by Resolv Machine). Once you're signed in, the app may show your builder's name and logo instead.

The three tabs at the bottom of the app

Issues

Ask a question or report a defect. Every reply from the building team shows up here too.

Inspections

See upcoming visits to your home, let the team know if they can come in, and check which of your issues are included.

Notices

Coming soon. Building updates for your unit will appear here.

1Step one

Get into the app

Everyone starts the same way. After that, how you join your home depends on how you were invited.

Everyone does this first

  1. Download and open the Resident Care app.
  2. Tap Create an account and enter your email and a password. Already have an account? Tap Sign in instead.
  3. Check your email for a 6-digit code and type it into the app.No email? Check your junk folder, or tap Resend to get a new code.
  4. Once your email is confirmed, the app will help you join your home.

Creating an account on its own won't open the Issues tab. You also need to be linked to your home, which is the next step.

Then follow the route that matches how you were invited
Route A

Your builder already registered you

This is you ifYou got an invitation (usually by email) and your builder has already set up your home for you.
  1. Sign up or sign in with the same email your builder used.
  2. Enter the email code.
  3. You'll see your home, building and role (Owner or Tenant).
  4. Tap Join this home.
  5. You're in. The app opens on the Issues tab.

Not your home? Tap Sign out and contact your building team, or try the email address your invitation was sent to.

Route B

You have a QR code or invite code

This is you ifYou were given a building QR code or invite code by email, letter, or at the site office.
  1. Sign up or sign in, and enter the email code.
  2. Scan the QR code, or type the invite code. Codes start with HC-.
  3. Check the building name and confirm it.
  4. Enter your name, choose Owner or Tenant, and pick your unit from the list.
  5. Tap Finish setting up. You're in.

Picked the wrong building? Scan again or enter a different code.

More than one home?

The app may ask which home you're using first. You can switch homes later from the top of the screen.

Forgot your password?

On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password. We'll email you a code, then you can set a new password.

Why the new colours?

After you join, the app may show your builder's colours and logo. It's still Resident Care.

2Step two

Ask a question or report a defect

You don't need to decide whether something is a question or a defect. Just describe it in your own words, and the app sends it to the right place.

Start a new issue

  1. Open the Issues tab and start a new note.
  2. Write what's going on, in plain words. Example prompts may appear to help you.For example: "The bathroom exhaust fan makes a loud rattling noise."
  3. Submit it. You'll see a short "sending" message while it's created.
  4. The app works out whether it's a question or a defect and opens the right conversation.
What happens next
If it's a question

You get an answer in a chat

The answer appears in the conversation. It may be instant, or it may take a little while if the building team reviews it first.

Answers often link to your building manuals. Tap the link to open the document.

You can keep asking follow-up questions in the same chat.

Turns out it's a defect? Tap This is actually a defect — report it at any time. The same issue becomes a defect report.

If it's a defect

You fill in a defect report

Your builder needs a few details to fix it. Depending on your building, one of two things happens:

Questions are readyAnswer a few short steps, add photos or measurements if asked, then review and tap Submit to builder.
The team needs to prepare questionsYou'll see a message that the building team will get back to you. This is normal, not a fault. You can wait, or choose to report directly and skip the questions.

After you submit, you'll get a confirmation and a reference number. Keep the conversation open, as the building team may reply there.

Photos

Take a photo with your camera or choose one from your library. Clear photos and measurements help your builder act faster.

Stopped halfway?

If you leave a defect report before finishing, your answers are usually saved so you can pick up where you left off.

3Every few days

Check for replies

Your Issues list shows at a glance where each issue is up to. Coloured labels tell you what's happening.

What the labels mean

In progressBeing worked on. No answer yet.
AnsweredYour question has a reply.
ReportedYour defect was sent to the builder. A reference number shows when available.
ScheduledIncluded in an upcoming inspection. May also show Rescheduled, Postponed or Completed.
RepairedThe builder has fixed it. May later show Closed out once you've signed off.

A quick check-in

  1. Open Issues and look at the labels.
  2. Tap an issue to open the conversation.
  3. Read any new messages. Replies from your building team are labelled differently from the automatic assistant.
  4. Need to add something? Type a reply at the bottom.
  5. Expecting a reply that isn't showing? Tap refresh at the top.

The list is shared with everyone in your home. If someone else in your household reported something, you'll see it too, along with who raised it.

4When a visit is booked

Inspections

What to do

  1. Open the Inspections tab.
  2. Look under Upcoming for visits that are coming up. Past visits are listed separately.
  3. On each visit, check the date and time, the status, and the list of your issues included.
  4. If the team asks to come in, answer the access question.
  5. Tap any issue on the visit to open its conversation.

After a repair

When a defect is marked Repaired, you may be asked to sign to close it out. You'll do this in the issue's conversation by adding your signature and name.
